Santa Barbara Summer in January, with pretty fun surf, Sorry there were no reports

The lack of reports shows you how much fun this past January was. It never got big, but there were plenty of waves throughout the Santa Barbara area... going head high+ sets with offshore winds on some days. Some waves were "practically perfect" if you could find them at their right moments.

The Santa Barbara Pacific Ocean has  a lot to offer, and I'm just starting to appreciate, finding the right wave at the right time. I like to ride a lot of different boards, and January allowed me to do that. There were  knee high days at several spots where I could cruise on a longboard in a Summer atmosphere. Then once the swell would pick up, I would ride a fish and fly down chest high peaky lines. Riding a 7'0" egg/hybrid thruster was almost like riding a magic board one day at devereux when it had fun size. SB also offers many beachbreaks that can sometimes just go off at the right moment if you got the right board.

Part of me also feels bad making this report, exposing spots ...
Part of me wants to get a better camera so I can have better pictures ... but maybe it's better showing crappy shots .. so less people will want to go out. (The Internet can be such a blessing/necessity, and a curse)

I want to continue to try and improve the blog, so feel free to comment if you have anything to say.

I'd like to basically just have a down to earth forecast that will give you some hints of where it might be good, but without giving too much away.

Surfline did a bad job predicting this thurs-friday February swell, the angle was too steep and the period was too long ... sure some places broke well with little size at the right moments ... but most places couldn't handle the looong period that was supposed to bring "3-5ft. surf"... so it ended up being just hyped up way too much
